GETICA 95 COM SRL, an electricity supplier in insolvency, is forced to increase tariffs for 173 clients due to financial instability caused by the shutdown of nuclear reactors. The company relied heavily on nuclear energy, and the closure of Cernavodă reactors led to a major crisis. To avoid service interruptions, the judicial administrator proposed modifying prices for loss-generating contracts or terminating them if clients do not accept. The crisis originated from exceptional hydrological phenomena affecting the Danube, leading to forced shutdowns and a domino effect on suppliers. Consequently, GETICA had to purchase energy at significantly higher market prices, resulting in substantial financial losses.
