A Romanian doctor, Alexandru Nechifor, recently attended a prestigious meeting at Harvard Medical School, discussing the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. He highlighted the stark contrast between advanced AI applications in medicine and the challenges faced by the Romanian healthcare system, such as bureaucracy and inadequate resources. Nechifor emphasized AI's potential in early disease detection, particularly in oncology, where it can identify cancers before they become clinically visible. However, he warned that without proper infrastructure and a focus on prevention, AI's benefits may not reach all patients. He also addressed ethical concerns regarding unequal access to technology in healthcare.
