The EU's new taxes on small packages, primarily affecting Chinese platforms like Shein and Temu, could generate six billion euros annually from 2028 to 2034. This measure aims to curb the influx of low-cost goods from outside the EU, particularly from China. The EU introduced an additional two-euro fee on small packages starting November 1, following a three-euro fee implemented in July. The European Commission anticipates a decrease in low-value packages entering the EU as retailers adjust to these new regulations. Chinese e-commerce giants are already adapting, with AliExpress expanding local storage capacities and Temu offering discounts to mitigate the impact of these taxes.
