Four volunteers completed a 378-day simulated Mars mission in a NASA habitat, facing isolation and resource limitations. They cultivated plants and communicated with delays to mimic conditions on Mars. The experiment aimed to gather data for future human missions to the Moon and Mars. Participants made independent decisions and managed their activities under challenging circumstances. Following the mission, they will undergo evaluations to assess the impact of prolonged isolation on their health and performance. This was the second CHAPEA mission, building on insights from a previous 2024 experiment.
