The Nădășelu – Zimbor section of the Transylvania Highway is expected to open around December 15, pending the completion of two viaducts. The Turkish contractor Özaltın may finish the necessary detours ahead of schedule, while the UMB contractor faces criticism for delays. The section, measuring 30.6 kilometers, will connect over 155 kilometers of highway, enhancing traffic flow. Current physical progress stands at 99%, but the opening relies on the viaducts, which are at 87.8% completion. The contract for the section was signed in December 2020, with an initial completion date set for December 2023, later extended to August 2024 due to various challenges. The viaduct contract is valued at approximately 995 million lei, excluding VAT.
