A Mediterranean cyclone is approaching Romania, bringing heavy rainfall and flood risks to several southern European countries. The National Meteorological Administration has issued weather warnings, including orange codes for rain and wind. Climatologist Roxana Bojariu noted that such cyclones are becoming more intense due to global warming, which increases precipitation levels. She also mentioned potential severe winter episodes influenced by the El Niño phenomenon, despite generally higher average temperatures. Bojariu advised the public to stay updated with official weather forecasts, especially regarding extreme weather events. Additionally, while upcoming rains may help alleviate drought conditions in the Danube basin, October's rainfall has not significantly impacted river levels.
