South Korea's exports nearly doubled in October, marking the highest growth in over 50 years due to strong global demand for AI investments. The country's exports rose by 93.7% year-on-year, reaching $115.28 billion, surpassing September's growth of 83.7%. This surge is attributed to robust semiconductor exports and increased investments, with major chipmakers like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix reporting significant profit increases. Officials anticipate that annual exports will exceed $1 trillion by November, making South Korea the fourth country to achieve this milestone after the US, China, and Germany. Semiconductor exports alone surged by 259.4% in October, totaling $56.44 billion.
