Starting January 5, 2027, new rules will govern the withdrawal of funds from Romania's private pension Pillar II. Beneficiaries can initially withdraw up to 30% of their accumulated savings, with the remainder paid monthly through specialized funds. Those with lower savings can opt for a full withdrawal or staggered payments over a year. The changes, approved by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), aim to streamline pension payments and separate accumulation from disbursement phases. The law also establishes two types of payment funds: scheduled withdrawals and lifetime pensions, with specific conditions for fund authorization and payment structures. The monthly pension amount will be linked to the social pension allowance, which is subject to annual adjustments.
