A fisherman in Constanța caught a nearly three-kilogram exotic fish from the Pacific, known as sebasta, in the Black Sea. This species, which tolerates significant temperature and salinity variations, may have arrived due to climate change. Experts note that rising water temperatures in the Black Sea could facilitate its adaptation. Sebasta feeds on small fish, shrimp, and crabs, potentially competing with local species. However, its tasty and nutritious meat could also provide economic benefits if harvested sustainably. Specialists warn that this newcomer might become a dangerous predator.
