Experts predict that the Danube River will remain at low levels until early 2027, impacting the operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) indicates that river flows will be significantly below multiannual averages during November, December, and January. In November 2026, river flows are expected to be 30-50% of the averages, with some basins experiencing even lower levels. December will see flows generally at 50-80% of averages, while January 2027 will continue this trend. Ice formations may occur in certain river basins, particularly in the northern and central regions of the country. The Danube's inflow will also remain below average for the next three months, with maximum flow estimates significantly lower than historical averages.
