The Earth takes about 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds to complete a rotation, not 24 hours. This discrepancy arises because while rotating, the Earth also orbits the Sun, requiring an additional four minutes for the Sun to return to the same position in the sky. Experts note that Earth's rotation speed varies, and on June 29, 2022, it was 1.59 milliseconds faster than the standard 24-hour day. Humans do not perceive this rotation due to the uniform motion of the atmosphere and surroundings. Additionally, biological clocks measure time accurately, but Earth's rhythms can change due to various factors, making the 24-hour day a practical reference rather than a strict natural rule.
