Ukrainian grain exports through Constanța port reached approximately 1.03 million tons in the first nine months of 2026, significantly increasing from the previous year. Meanwhile, Russia is shifting some wheat exports to northern ports due to disruptions in the Black Sea caused by Ukrainian attacks. This shift may increase traffic for Romanian ports but also create competitive pressure on local farmers. The overall grain traffic through Constanța rose to 15.8 million tons, with logistical costs rising amid ongoing regional conflicts. Both Russian and Ukrainian farmers face challenges with rising transport costs and falling prices, impacting their production decisions for the upcoming harvests.
