As of September 2026, mandatory private pension funds in Romania reached assets of 236.8 billion lei, marking a 29% increase from the previous year. The majority of investments, 95%, were in Romanian assets, predominantly in lei. Contributions for September totaled 1.99 billion lei, with an average contribution of 435 lei. Government bonds comprised the largest share of assets at 64.9%, followed by stocks at 27.4%. The total number of participants in these pension funds was 8,574,873. The funds include Aripi, AZT Viitorul Tău, BCR, and others.
