As of September 2026, mandatory private pension funds in Romania reported assets worth 236.8 billion lei, marking a 29% increase from the previous year. The majority of investments, 95%, were in Romanian assets, predominantly in lei. Contributions for September reached 1.99 billion lei, with an average contribution of 435 lei. Government bonds constituted the largest share of assets at 153.66 billion lei, followed by stocks and corporate bonds. The total number of participants in these pension funds was 8,574,873.
