Spanish scientists have developed a new material that can cool building roofs by nearly 13 degrees Celsius without using electricity. This innovative solution reflects sunlight and dissipates heat, potentially reducing the need for air conditioning and lowering electricity bills. The material, made from a modified type of plastic, has shown promising results in tests conducted in sunny conditions. It reflects over 82% of solar radiation and effectively emits heat as infrared radiation. Researchers believe it could be produced affordably using existing industrial equipment and may also have applications in the automotive and electronics industries.
