The Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Daniel Zamfir, advocates for a significant increase in vacation vouchers, citing their reduction as detrimental to the HoReCa industry. He has already approached the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance regarding this issue. Zamfir emphasizes that vacation vouchers should be viewed as an investment that stimulates the economy. Currently, the law stipulates vacation vouchers worth 800 lei for 2026, which are taxable. The tourism industry has proposed measures to enhance these vouchers, including a minimum annual value of 1,600-2,000 lei. Zamfir also plans to support investments in spa tourism and promote Romania as an attractive destination for foreign tourists.
