Starting tomorrow, the 25 lei tax on packages from outside the EU will be eliminated, replaced by a new European processing fee. This fee, set at two euros, is paid directly to Brussels and is in addition to a customs tax introduced earlier. The new tax structure means that the more diverse the products in a single order, the higher the total tax will be. Authorities aim to reduce the influx of cheap packages from outside the EU to support local businesses. Recent data shows a significant drop in non-EU packages entering Romania, indicating a shift in consumer behavior towards local retailers.
