Authorities have identified the probable cause of the tragic fire in Tălmaciu that claimed the lives of two young children. Investigators believe the incident was linked to a heater used for warming the room. The fire, which occurred on October 28, 2026, involved two children aged 2 and 4 who died from smoke inhalation. A commission from the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Sibiu examined various hypotheses regarding the fire's ignition source. The most likely cause was determined to be thermal effects from the electric heater, exacerbated by the children's play with fire. The investigation revealed that the children may have brought flammable materials close to the heater, leading to a smoldering fire that produced significant smoke.
