USR is reshaping its leadership at a congress in Timișoara, facing internal rivalries and strong criticism of PSD. Around 600 delegates will elect 24 members of the National Bureau, with three factions vying for influence. Although Dominic Fritz's presidency is not up for vote, the election results could impact his authority. This congress is the first since USR left the government, aiming to redefine strategies ahead of the 2028 parliamentary elections. The factions include "USR Echilibru" led by Diana Buzoianu, "USR Deschis" by Radu Miruță, and "USR Forța din Filiale" by Lucian Stanciu-Viziteu. The congress also featured strong attacks against PSD, with Fritz emphasizing the need for a united front against the party's influence.
