On Saturday, Energy Minister Dumitru Chisăliță visited the Iernut Power Plant to assess the project's implementation status and completion stages. The new combined cycle gas turbine power plant, developed by ROMGAZ, is a strategic investment expected to be operational by mid-2027. The minister highlighted the importance of this project for increasing domestic energy production and reducing import dependency. The plant will have a capacity of 430 MW and an energy efficiency of 56.4%, surpassing older coal and gas plants. It also features a 'Black Start' system for emergency operations.
