The Romanian government approved a resolution to support the country's candidacy for a new term at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council, including organizing a traditional dinner in Qatar for about 1,000 attendees. This decision follows accusations against former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for allegedly sabotaging diplomatic efforts. The resolution allows activities to promote Romania's candidacy at the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Doha. Funding for the event will come from the ANCOM budget for 2026. The ITU is a UN specialized agency established in 1865, with 194 member states.
