A farmer from Brașov County was detained by DNA for attempting to fraudulently obtain EU funds by falsely declaring livestock numbers. He claimed to have 429 sheep and 55 goats, while actually possessing only 151 sheep and no goats. The investigation revealed that he submitted false documents to the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture between May and September 2026. His fraudulent actions aimed to secure unjustified financial support from EU funds and the national budget. The attempt was interrupted on September 11, 2026, following searches and on-site investigations. He is set to be presented to the Brașov Tribunal for preventive arrest.
