The 2027 Dakar Rally will be relocated from Saudi Arabia to Europe and Africa due to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The event will start in Portugal and include stages in Morocco, marking its return to Africa after 20 years. The rally will feature a prologue and 12 stages from January 9 to 23, covering a total distance of 7,824 km. Organizers cited geopolitical tensions, including attacks from Houthi fighters, as the reason for the change. The rally is expected to return to Saudi Arabia for its 50th edition in 2028.
