The Romanian government approved a controversial reception for 1,000 guests to support the country's candidacy for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council. This decision follows a public dispute regarding the previous withdrawal of the proposal by former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. The reception is part of promotional activities for Romania's bid at the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for November 2026. The event will be organized by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) and funded from its 2026 budget.
