The Romanian government has extended the temporary reduction of diesel excise taxes until February 1, 2027, to mitigate rising fuel prices amid ongoing oil market crises. Prime Minister Luca Niculescu emphasized the need to support consumers facing increasing fuel costs. The Ministry of Finance estimates that without this reduction, diesel prices could rise by approximately 0.85 lei per liter, potentially increasing the average price from 10.90 lei to 11.75 lei per liter. This extension aims to protect both the population and the economy while ensuring energy market stability. Additionally, preparations for the winter energy needs were discussed during the meeting.
