New warning signs stating "Stop - Access Forbidden" have been installed on Romania's A1 and A11 highways to prevent drivers from entering the wrong way. These signs are strategically placed near interchanges and service areas where the risk of wrong-way entry is higher. The initiative, led by the Timișoara Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges, aims to enhance road safety by making the prohibition more visible. Similar measures have been implemented on other highways, including A10 and A6, and have been ongoing since 2021. The signs complement existing road signage without altering traffic rules. Drivers are reminded of the severe penalties for driving against traffic, including fines and license suspension.
