Chinese auto giant BYD plans to invest hundreds of millions in Romania, focusing on installing up to 20 ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles and collaborating with local suppliers. Stella Li, the company's vice president, emphasized the intention to enhance infrastructure rather than just sell cars. The new charging technology can significantly reduce charging times, with a battery charging from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes. While BYD is exploring locations for new factories in Europe, Li did not confirm if Romania would host one. The company is also interested in partnerships with Romanian automotive firms and plans to introduce its smart driving technologies in Europe within the next 15 months.
