The psychiatric evaluation of Vlad Bălțățeanu, the main suspect in Valentina Tănăsie's death, revealed he has an emotionally unstable personality disorder but retained critical understanding of his actions. The case gained public attention after Tănăsie’s body was found in a suitcase in the Olt River. Bălțățeanu, who initially fled Romania, was later extradited from Switzerland. The evaluation was deemed necessary due to the brutal nature of the crime and the way the body was disposed of. Despite the diagnosis, it was concluded that he was aware of the social consequences of his actions, and no medical safety measures were recommended.
