Italy is experiencing a massive general strike and protests across over 50 cities, organized by the Unione Sindicale di Base (USB) and other unions. Tens of thousands of students, teachers, workers, and activists are protesting against rising costs of living, low wages, and government spending on military rather than social protection. In Rome, around 100,000 protesters clashed with police, leading to violent incidents. While protests in Milan and Bologna remained peaceful, they caused significant traffic disruptions. In Turin, farmers joined the protests, dumping manure in front of the city hall. Demonstrators also occupied parts of major ports in Naples and Genoa, highlighting widespread discontent with the current economic situation.
