The Minister of Energy, Dumitru Chisăliță, visited the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant to discuss major investment projects with Nuclearelectrica and South Korean partners. Key projects include the modernization of Unit 1 and the establishment of a tritium removal facility, both crucial for Romania's energy security. The modernization aims to extend Unit 1's operational life by 30 years, with planned downtime from 2027 to 2030. Discussions also covered the status of Units 3 and 4, which are in preparation for construction, and the current operational status of Units 1 and 2, which are offline due to low water levels in the Danube. The Ministry is coordinating winter energy plans to ensure stability in the national energy system.
