Dominic Fritz has legally challenged the prefect's order terminating his mayoral mandate in Timișoara, preventing the government from scheduling new elections. The Permanent Electoral Authority reported that at least 35 mayors have had their mandates end, requiring the government to organize elections in those areas. The law mandates elections within 90 days of a mandate's termination, but there are no penalties for delays. Fritz's case is still pending in court, with a hearing set for November 10. Other mayors have also contested their mandate terminations, affecting various localities across Romania.
