The Romanian government has replaced several prefects and sub-prefects nationwide, with 32 prefects and 20 sub-prefects dismissed and 29 prefects and 15 sub-prefects appointed. These changes were made during a government meeting and affect the leadership of prefect institutions in various counties. Following these decisions, the total number of prefects and sub-prefects has decreased by eight. New prefects will be appointed in 31 counties and the capital, while sub-prefects will be replaced in 18 counties. The prefect serves as the government's representative in the territory, and their appointments are made by the government upon the minister's proposal.
