Astronomers have discovered a large cosmic object beyond Pluto, provisionally named 2026 ED138, which may become the sixth officially recognized dwarf planet in the Solar System. Estimated to be between 600 and 1,500 kilometers in diameter, it was identified using advanced observational technology. If future observations confirm its characteristics, it could join the ranks of Pluto, Ceres, Eris, Haumea, and Makemake. The discovery highlights the potential for more large celestial bodies in the distant regions of the Solar System, as the Rubin Observatory continues its extensive sky monitoring program.
