Experts at a forum in Cluj-Napoca report a rise in cyberattacks on Romania's energy infrastructure, attributed to both individual hackers and state actors. The frequency and intensity of these attacks have increased significantly, with incidents now occurring almost weekly. The challenge remains in funding protective measures, although the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) asserts that solutions for investment support can be found. The National Cyber Security Directorate confirms that significant incidents have escalated, necessitating constant updates to security systems. In emergencies, the Special Telecommunications Service maintains a dedicated communication network to ensure operational continuity.
