The prefect of Galați, George Toderașc, has urged the Romanian government to find urgent solutions to prevent the power supply interruption at Liberty Galați steel plant, which could halt operations and have significant economic and social repercussions. The plant faces disconnection due to unpaid debts to Electrica, amounting to approximately 30 million lei. Toderașc emphasized that the consequences of a shutdown would extend beyond the company, affecting employees and the local economy. Around 300 workers protested over unpaid salaries and uncertainty about the plant's future, demanding payment and a quicker sale process. A technical unemployment measure is set to begin on November 1 due to financial difficulties.
