The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) declined for the third consecutive month to 91.6 in October, driven by worsening sentiment in industry and services, alongside increased consumer pessimism. Despite this, retail and construction sectors showed improvement. The ESI remains below its long-term average for the 18th month. The EU and eurozone indicators also fell in October, indicating a weak start to Q4 2026. Confidence in the manufacturing sector decreased, while retail sentiment improved significantly. Consumer confidence dropped slightly, but expectations regarding financial situations showed some positive trends. Employment expectations fell, suggesting lower hiring intentions across sectors, although concerns about unemployment eased slightly.
