Children under 14 and the elderly frequently required hospital treatment, while no hospitalized cases of clinically diagnosed flu were reported. Respiratory infections and pneumopathies increased in Sibiu during week 43 of 2026. The local health authority noted that mild to moderate cases were observed, with hospitalizations mainly for children and seniors. Five clinically diagnosed flu cases were reported, with the majority in individuals aged 15 to 49, but none required hospitalization. Acute respiratory infections rose by 350 cases, totaling 1,863, with 63 hospitalizations recommended. Pneumopathy cases reached 441, with 33.78% needing hospital treatment, particularly among those aged 65 and older. The health authority advises early medical consultation and preventive hygiene measures to limit viral spread, including frequent handwashing and vaccination for at-risk groups.
