Carlyle Group and EBRD have agreed to sell Black Sea Oil & Gas to Mazarine Energy, led by Edward van Kersbergen. The deal, announced on October 29, 2026, involves the transfer of BSOG's assets, including the Midia Gas Development Project, which has significantly contributed to Romania's gas supply. The transaction's value remains undisclosed and is subject to regulatory approvals. Mazarine Energy, active in Romania since 2017, aims to enhance its operations and energy security in the region. Carlyle previously held a majority stake in Mazarine before selling it to van Kersbergen in 2025. BSOG will continue its operations post-sale, focusing on gas production and new energy projects.
