Eleven home searches were conducted in Olt and Dolj counties related to copper thefts worth approximately €350,000 across several European countries. Six individuals are under investigation, with three European arrest warrants issued by Austrian authorities. The operation was coordinated by the Olt Police Inspectorate and involved collaboration with Austrian judicial authorities. The suspects, aged 21 to 33, allegedly stole copper from various companies between February and July 2026, using stolen vehicles. Investigators believe their criminal activities extended beyond Austria and Romania to countries like France and Germany. Evidence was seized during the searches, and two suspects have been located, while one remains at large.
