The Romanian government will approve its first budget rectification of 2026 on Friday, focusing on urgent needs in health and pensions. Additional funds are allocated for healthcare, pensions, and local administrations, with a total request of around 60 billion lei. The health sector receives the largest share, including 3.22 billion lei for medications and medical services. Pension budgets are also increased by 3.47 billion lei. Local administrations will receive over 2.8 billion lei to settle debts and support essential public services. Despite a nominal increase in the budget deficit, the government aims to maintain a cash deficit target of 6.2% of GDP. A second budget rectification is planned for mid-November to address further funding requests.
