Romanian farmers may receive financial aid in 2026 to offset fertilizer costs, with subsidies ranging from 77.50 to 527.50 lei per hectare. The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed a government resolution to provide nearly 60 million euros in support due to rising fertilizer prices linked to the Middle East crisis. The aid will be distributed through APIA in two phases, based on eligible agricultural areas. Farmers must submit invoices for fertilizer purchases made between February 28 and October 30, 2026, to qualify for the assistance. The total budget for this initiative is approximately 314 million lei, funded equally by the EU and the state budget.
