Employees of Liberty Steel in Galați are protesting due to unpaid salaries since May and impending technical unemployment starting November 1. Between 100 and 200 workers gathered peacefully outside the Prefecture seeking answers from local authorities. The company announced the layoffs citing severe operational difficulties, including energy supply issues. Currently, only 1,500 to 2,000 workers remain on-site for maintenance and security, a stark contrast to the 40,000 employees in the past. The situation is increasingly challenging for families affected by rising living costs and lack of income.
