Alexander Zverev has secured the ATP number one ranking after reaching the quarter-finals in Vienna, succeeding Jannik Sinner. He will officially take the top spot on November 2. Zverev becomes the 30th player in history to achieve this and the second German after Boris Becker. At 29, he is the second oldest to reach number one, following John Newcombe. Zverev has won 26 ATP titles, including two Grand Slams this year, and has faced controversies, including a suspension in 2022 and allegations of domestic abuse. He is set to compete in Nanterre next week.
