As winter approaches, construction on the new rolling mill at Oțelu Roșu is progressing, with the roof installation recently showcased. This new long products mill will be integrated into the existing steel complex, ensuring minimal carbon emissions and high production efficiency. SMS Group is set to deliver the first Continuous Mill Technology (CMT 700) in Europe, enabling an annual output of around 700,000 tons of straight bars, compact coils, and rolled wire. The CMT 700 will reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 30% by eliminating the need for natural gas in reheating processes. UMB Group acquired the Oțelu Roșu steel plant for nearly 142 million lei through Eco Wind Power, following a bidding process.
