The Ministry of Finance has announced the first budget revision for 2026, increasing the budget deficit by 3.5 billion lei to 130.3 billion lei. Despite this increase, the deficit target remains at 6.2% of GDP due to an updated nominal GDP estimate. The revision allocates additional funds for health, pensions, and local authority debts, while several ministries face budget cuts. Revenue estimates have been revised down by 4.7 billion lei, and expenditures reduced by 1.2 billion lei. Key priorities include funding for the healthcare system and social security, with significant increases for the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The revision is based on budget execution data from the first nine months of the year and aims to cover urgent obligations without incurring new expenses.
