The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to keep interest rates unchanged amid rising inflation in the eurozone, which reached 3.8% in September. This decision was overshadowed by the announcement of Christine Lagarde's resignation, effective February 7, 2027, nearly nine months before her term ends. The ECB noted that energy prices continue to rise, posing risks to inflation forecasts, although core inflation remains stable. The annual inflation rate in the eurozone increased from 3.2% in August to 3.8% in September, compared to 2.2% a year ago. The ECB predicts inflation will peak by the end of 2026 due to rising energy prices, before gradually decreasing thereafter.
