The Bucharest City Hall claims to have doubled paid parking spaces in two years, with a reported 75% increase in payments. However, analysis shows that the average number of transactions per parking space has actually decreased by 20% during this period. In June 2024, there were 23,312 paid parking spots with 589,007 transactions, averaging 25.2 transactions per spot. By June 2026, the number of spots increased to 52,195, but transactions rose to 1,031,639, resulting in an average of only 19.8 transactions per spot. Despite the increase in parking spaces, the decline in transaction efficiency raises questions about the effectiveness of the expansion.
