A legislative proposal aims to exempt beekeepers from paying road taxes for specialized vehicles used exclusively for transporting beehives. This initiative seeks to alleviate financial burdens on beekeepers engaged in pastoral beekeeping, allowing them to move their hives to areas with abundant nectar sources. The exemption would apply only to vehicles certified by the Romanian Auto Registry and specifically designed for this purpose. However, the proposal has received a negative advisory from the Economic and Social Council due to legal inconsistencies with existing road tax regulations. The new road tax system, effective from October 2026, differentiates between various vehicle categories, impacting how beekeepers are taxed. Despite the advisory, the proposal can still proceed through Parliament for further consideration.
