In Romania, nearly 200,000 registered unemployed individuals do not receive unemployment benefits, according to ANOFM data. Although the unemployment rate decreased to 3.20% in September 2026, significant disparities exist between urban and rural areas. Approximately 76% of registered unemployed individuals lack financial support, with over 185,000 coming from rural regions. The largest group of unemployed is aged over 55, while educational attainment shows that 33.01% have only completed gymnasium. Only 5.17% hold university degrees, highlighting the challenges faced by different demographics in the job market.
