Alvin Hellerstein, the U.S. federal judge overseeing Nicolás Maduro's trial, has passed away at 92. He served nearly 30 years on the bench and was appointed by Bill Clinton in 1998. Hellerstein was involved in significant cases, including those related to 9/11 and Donald Trump. His recent notoriety stemmed from presiding over the criminal case against Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were arrested in January. Following his death, a new judge will be randomly assigned to continue the case.
